Charger Performance & Fuel Economy
Available in SE, SXT, R/T, SXT Plus, R/T Plus, R/T Road & Track, R/T Max and SRT8 trim levels, the 2012 Charger is powered by either an all-new 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) that generates 292hp and 260 lb-ft of torque on the SE, SXT and SXT Plus or a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine with dual-VVT and FuelSaver Technology that puts out 370hp and 395lb-ft of torque on the R/T, R/T Plus and R/T Road and Track. Those wanting an even more powerful Charger will want to opt for the SRT8 with its 392 CID HEMI V8 engine that produces an astounding 470hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Two transmission choices include a 5-speed AutoStick automatic transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission with E-Shift (SXT & SXT Plus).
On the outside, the boxy style is replaced by a curvier design with improved noise reduction, aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. Dodge's traditional crosshair grille has been upgraded, retooled and enlarged, with more prominent surface development making it jut out in a more forceful fashion. A newly sculpted, more chiseled hood center makes the sedan more attention-grabbing, and a smoothed-out greenhouse cuts down on drag. Crisp, scowling headlights feature more angular lighting elements inside them, while the reshaped front air-intakes add a touch more edginess to the overall design. New taillights that incorporate 164 illuminating LEDs come together to create its signature Racetrack graphic featured on the rear end. Additionally, the R/T Road and Track and the SRT8 trims sport 20" wheels. All trims but the SE, R/T Road and Track and SRT8 have available RWD or AWD for improved handling on all road surfaces. |

Charger Standard Equipment and Options
Inside the 2012 Charger, the cabin has been tuned for sound quality with the addition of dual-pane acoustic windshield and front-door side glass, body-cavity silencing foam, under-flush roll-framed doors with triple seals and acoustic wheel-well liners, giving you a quiet ride every time. Drivers will find that upgraded premium soft-touch materials throughout, four available color combinations, a new thick-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel and a state-of-the-art Uconnect Touch infotainment system up the luxury quotient significantly. The SE, SXT and SXT Plus sport a 4.3" touchscreen while the other trims get an 8.4" Uconnect touchscreen, giving you access to a segment-leading Garmin navigation system, dual zone automatic temperature control with humidity sensor, Uconnect Voice Command, Bluetooth and available SIRIUS Travel Link. All trims but the SE and R/T get heated power front seats, though the SXT Plus R/T Plus and up trims add heated rear seats, as well, Depending on the trim, the seats come either adorned in comfy cloth or luxurious Nappa leather. Plus, features like new heated/cooled cup holders give the interior a luxury feel. Feel like you're in the front row of a concert thanks to a 506-watt 9-speaker amplified sound system.
Other features/options include fog lights, heated door mirrors, front overhead LED lighting, ambient LED lighting, 17-inch aluminum wheels, new 18-inch painted polished aluminum wheels, 18-inch chrome-clad wheels, SmartBeam HID headlights, rear spoiler, black grille with black honeycomb insert, high speed engine controller, R/T Heritage badge, power adjustable pedals and a ParkSense Rear Park Assist System. For the ultimate in high fidelity sound, the SRT8 comes equipped with a 19-speaker SRT High-Performance Audio System with 900-watt amplifier. |

Additionally, the 2012 Charger comes with more than 65 safety and security features, such as standard Keyless Enter-N-Go and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with segment-exclusive Ready-alert Braking and Rainy Day Brake Support. For the first time ever, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with rear cross path (RCP) detection and a ParkView rear back-up camera with grid lines are all available safety options on the Charger as well.
